Fire Safety & Prevention
Fire safety education is a proven and effective method of reducing the number of fires, and the number of deaths and injuries that result from fires. Every year fires kill more than 4,000 Americans and injure approximately 20,000. Many of these deaths and injuries could be prevented by teaching people the basic facts about fire so that they may prepare themselves and their families.
Franklin Borough Fire Rescue offers a variety of fire prevention services, including those listed below. If you have any special needs regarding fire prevention, feel free to contact us. Any of the services can be obtained by contacting the fire department by phone (814.535.1953), email, or in person.
- Station tours are available for groups or individuals and normally consist of a tour of the station, apparatus, and equipment used by firefighters, as well as brief lessons on fire safety and the fire department’s history and operations.
- Fire prevention programs conducted in daycares, kindergartens, and elementary schools have been a proven method of teaching children how to dial 911, stop drop and roll, exit a house during a fire, and what to do in an emergency situation. Fire prevention programs can also be tailored for adult and elderly age groups.
- Guidance and oversight for fire drills and the safe evacuation of occupants from schools, businesses, apartments, and even single-family residences is also available.
