Rescue-Engine Investigates Odor

Posted in Incidents on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 by franklinfire

In the mid-morning hours, Engine 5-1 responded, along with other units, to investigate a reported large odor of home heating fuel outside of a Fourth Street residence in East Conemaugh. Engine 5-1 arrived on scene to find an odor of propane outside. With assistance from Engine 17-2 and Squad 5-1, crews shut off the gas and checked the gas levels with multi-gas meters. The propane tanks were filled that morning and the propane company was contacted to respond back to take care of the situation. Fire units returned to service after operating for 40 minutes.
