A first alarm assignment was dispatched at 2212 hours for a structure fire at Freightcar America’s railcar manufacturing plant. Security personnel led Chief 5 to a working fire in a 12-foot by 12-foot room containing transformers and other electrical equipment. After plant personnel shut off the electric supply, Truck 5-1’s crew entered to attack the fire with Engine 15-4’s crew backing them up. Attack 6-6 provided scene lighting and a water supply was established by Tanker 43-3; all other units were held in a staging area. The fire was quickly extinguished and all units were released within 45 minutes.
